Gina Gershon jokes about being a women’s crush after the release of Bound

Gina Gershon revealed she had many female audiences crushing on her after the release of her hit film Bound.

The 60-year-old actress joked about many women proposing to her since her neo-noir thriller released in 1996.

Gina recently attended the American Heart Association’s Red Dress Collection Concert and said,

“I’m always amazed at how different men are from women, as far as being a groupie,”
I found that quite interesting. It’s all very flattering.”

The actress also said that she definitely met many nice people but she politely had to shut them down.

The veteran advised,

“No one should throw themselves at anyone if you don’t know them, that’s just wrong!”
“I felt like I was lecturing them, ‘You shouldn’t do that!’”

In the hit film, Gershon’s character is an ex-con named Corky who has a secret affair with Violet played by Jennifer Tilly. The duo gets on a mission to steal money from Violet’s mafioso lover, Caesar played by Joe Pantoliano.

The movie became a hit lesbian flick.

Gershon’s agents told her not to do Showgirls

Gershon also received a lot of male attention for her role in Showgirls which was a box-office disaster.

The actress explained,

“I think what’s interesting about ‘Showgirls’ – and it’s a good lesson – [is that] people just wanted to kill it. They wanted to speak so badly of it, especially the press, and now they cannot interview me without asking about it,”

The Killer Joe actress continued,

”So it just goes to show, no offense to you guys, you can’t really take the press and journalism too seriously when it comes to that.”

She also reported that she was very aware of what was happening with Showgirls at the time. She said,

“So I made sure I went right into a movie that was coming out around the same time, and that movie was ‘Bound,’”

Gershon recalled her agents being appalled and asking her why she was doing the movie to which she responded,

‘Trust me I need to show that I’m actually an actress,’ even though I felt very secure in my work.”

She continued,

”I did the best I could in ‘Showgirls’ but I also couldn’t control what it was. I always thought it was kind of funny but everyone took it so seriously, which I thought was a big problem.”
