Hailee Steinfeld released her second EP Half Written Story on 8th May 2020.
This EP is considered the first half of a two-piece project, being supplemented by her upcoming third EP, scheduled to be released in summer 2020.

People believed that it is a diss album about her rumored ex-boyfriend Niall Horan. But now Hailee has fuelled the rumors by hinting that a messy breakup was the inspiration behind the album.

Hailee said,

“I wanted to be honest with myself about feelings I was having.”

She did not mention the name of Niall. Her song includes lines like,

“My brother hates you, my mother hates you / My father and sister, too / Wait, I don’t even have a sister / But if I did, she’d hate you.”

Steinfeld revealed,

“For me, it has been cathartic to write these songs but I remember at one point, way back in my mind, I was saying to myself “Just write the song! No one has to hear it,”

She continued,

“That gave me the freedom to be as vulnerable and honest and truthful as possible,”

Naill’s album Heartbreak Weather was rumored to be about his split from Hailee.

Niall Horan and Hailee Steinfeld’s relationship

Niall Horan and Hailee Steinfeld always kept their relationship private and never agreed that they are in a relationship.

But their romance was evident to the fans. They started off as friends and soon found themselves fueling romance rumors after being spotted together on multiple occasions.

The two were first romantically linked in January 2018. They were spotted together attending London’s West End production of Hamilton. After a few months, Hailee and Naill were spotted packing on the PDA whenever they were out on the town.

The two were never public about their relationship and never confirmed it. But their adorable romance came to an end in December 2018.

Sources revealed that they split,

“Niall wrapped up his tour and had more free time, but Hailee’s work schedule really ramped up, so they didn’t have time for a relationship. They still have a lot of love for each other.”

After that, in January Hailee released a new track Wrong Direction which fans were supposed to be Hailee calling out her ex for cheating on her. After more than a year Hailee and Niall’s new songs make fans think that it is about their love story.

Update 2022: Niall and Hailee split after one year of togetherness. The X Factor is presently dating a girl named Amelia Woolley. Similarly, the two went public with their relationship on September 2021 red carpet.
