Holly Madison ignores Hugh Hefner’s death

Holly Madison, to this day, has not spoken anything about Hugh Hefner‘s death.

The former model explained that after leaving the Playboy mansion years before Hefner’s death, she did not feel like publicly mourning the Playboy founder when he passed away.

The former Playboy Playmate told People magazine in an interview published on Saturday,

“When he passed away, everybody expected me to have some big reaction or post about it on social media, and it just felt weird,”

“I didn’t have any emotional attachment to him anymore in any way.”

“I’d already come out talking about what a toxic relationship this was for me,”

“Why am I supposed to post a memorial on my Instagram?”

The Girl Next Door alum, 43, has been very vocal about the traumatic experience she received from the disgraced millionaire. She also detailed years of sexual misconduct and abuse in numerous interviews and books.

Madison and Hefner were in a relationship from 2001 to 2008. She first discussed their relationship in her 2015 book Down the Rabbit Hole where she accused the controversial figure of various types of sexual and emotional abuse.

Since then, she has mustered the courage to speak about the life she had with Hugh, calling their sexual relationship hell.

The Holly’s World star said in an August 2022 Girls Next Level podcast episode,

“We thought of it as a chore that we had to do or else we’ll get kicked out of the house. Everybody just wanted to make it go by as quickly as possible,”

“You’re literally sitting there naked having sex in front of a group of people who hate you and talk s–t about you while you’re having sex — and you can hear it. It was just like hell.”

The mom of two explained,

“… I felt like I had taken myself kind of out of that universe pretty solidly,”

“But it was a really odd time.”

“Before he passed away, there had been maybe five or six years where I just had not spoken to him at all. He had become a completely different character in my mind.”

Madison who even released a tell-all memoir on what really happened inside the Playboy Mansion, said she still gets slammed for speaking her truth.

She said,

“There’s still people who want to attack me for telling my truth, even if it has nothing to do with them. Just because when you’re coming from the mansion, it’s kind of this high-stakes environment where people attach who they are to this title of being a playmate or being associated with Playboy, so they don’t ever want to hear a bad word about it,”

Since then, other playmates have come forward and shared their own experiences of what really went on inside the mansion.
