Furthermore, Sloan was promoted to Louisiana Tech’s assistant head coach position in 2015. In 2020, Sloan received a promotion from Louisiana Tech to become the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. After spending two seasons as the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator, Sloan was brought on by LSU to coach the quarterback position.

On January 23, 2024, Sloan was promoted to offensive coordinator at LSU. He was elevated to offensive coordinator in January 2024 after two years as LSU’s quarterbacks coach, where he will continue to teach.
