The couple broke up after almost two years of dating.
The now-former couple made their relationship Instagram official in June 2021 just days after they were photographed hanging out together.

Split alert! Kacey Musgraves and her poet boyfriend Cole Schafer are no longer a romantic couple. The couple has called it quits on their relationship after almost two years of dating.

Although the two haven’t yet commented on their break up, a source confirmed to US Weekly,

“They weren’t seeing eye to eye in terms of where they are in life right now and decided to end things,”

They have also unfollowed each other on Instagram, but they have not deleted each other’s photos.

According to Page Six, the couple’s relationship has been over for at least a month, and it’s been a hot topic in Nashville, where they both live.

The breakup came as a complete surprise since there were no indications earlier that the relationship was ending.

In January, the Grammy winner paid a sweet birthday tribute to her then-boyfriend sharing a picture of the two and writing,

“Happiest birthday to the brightest flame in my world. My deeper well. I love you, @cole_schafer, You are such a fixture in the lives of all the people who are lucky enough to really know you.”

Cole shared a photo of a Polaroid of the couple and captioned it,

“I’m trying like hell not to write about her”

Musgraves revealed during her August 2021 interview with the New York Times that the two first got encountered in a crowded restaurant.

She recalled,

“He did not know who I was, which I loved, A handful of gown men come out, and they’re sweating trying to keep up with you on the sidewalk. It feels very predatory.

In February 2022, the Poet shared a sweet post on Instagram praising her now ex-girlfriend sharing a carousel of photos of the two together throughout the years.

“She’s the most naturally giftedhuman I’ve been around. I’ve read about artists vomiting in dimly lit bathroom stalls prior to pulling themselves on stage, And, while I think there is something strangely romantic about this kind of torture, Kace just sort of floats around backstage like a butterfly that can’t make up its mind where it wants to land …”

She continued,

“But, besides being the most naturally gifted human I’ve ever been around, what impresses me most about her, is that she’s the same human when she’s talking to my mother, my father, my grandfather, my brothers or my best friend Jack, as she is when she’s talking to an arena filled with 15,000 people.”
