Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be replaced on American Idol but there is nothing for fans to worry about. It’s because the duo will be across the pond for King Charles III’s upcoming project.

Another judge, Luke Bryan revealed that big-time Hollywood stars will be there instead of the singers who are all set to perform on May 6 at Windsor Castle.

The country star explained,

“It’s big time. It’s big time,”
“The people that we have filling in, contestants have used their songs many, many times. A lot more than mine!”

A break from being a judge on the show might work as a breath of fresh air for Perry who recently came under fire for her controversial comments about the show’s contestants.

Just a few weeks ago, the audience booed the Firework singer for making a sensitive comment about Nutsa Buzaladze’s shimmery outfits.

The Roar hitmaker told the contestant,

“Nutsa, every time you take the stage it’s like you glitter bomb the stage,”
“Listen, one thing that I would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that is going to be hard.”

Katy’s controversial American Idol moment

The crowd did not like Perry’s remarks. The mother of one tried to defend herself but the audience was not convinced since this was not the first time she’s had to face such a situation.

Just a month before that, Katy was in big trouble for mom-shaming a contestant named Sara Beth Liebe – a 25-year-old mother of three.

Before her audition, Liebe explained her situation to the three judges. Perry then stood up and walked around the tables.

The young mother said,

“If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out,”

Perry responded,

“Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much.”

After the embarrassing situation, Liebe left the show and shared her pain on TikTok.

In a since-deleted video, she said,

“I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom-shaming is super lame and I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman.”
