Kevin began his racing career in 1992. He started racing late models part-time in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series and he competed there while still in high school.

He made his debut at the Mesa Marin Raceway in 1995. In 1997, he signed a contract with Spears Motorsports. The same year, he raced for NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series.

After a year, Kevin Harvick won five races in the Winston West Series championship. Harvick made his first NASCAR Busch Series debut on October 23, 1999. In 2001, he made his Winston Cup Series debut.

They planned to race Harvick for a full schedule in 2002. He became “2001 Nascar Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year”. The same year, he became Nascar Busch Series Champion. After that, he became the Busch Series Champion in 2006.

He had won the same championship for the first time in 2001. He is the former owner of Kevin Harvick Incorporated. His race team ran in the Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series between 2004 and 2011.
