During a race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in August 2014, he tragically ran into and killed 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. He is the co-owner of Stewart-Hass Racing and the NASCAR team owner.

Stewart became the co-host of a two-hour weekly radio show, titled Tony Stewart Live in 2007.
