Kim Kardashian is re-evaluating her partnership with Balenciaga after the BDSM ad scandal

Kim Kardashian does not want her name to be associated with Balenciaga anymore.

Multiple reports suggest that the Skims founder turned down a 2021 Balenciaga deal after revealing that she was re-evaluating her partnership with the fashion house after their major BDSM scandal.

TMZ reported that the brand offered Kardashian the project before the controversial images came out but she denied the expensive offer soon after the backlash started.

The mother of four also ditched many Balenciaga outfits she was planning to wear to upcoming events. She is already seeing many designers dress her instead.

Kardashian’s decision to scrap the campaign days before she called out the brand by saying “shaken by the disturbing images.”

The reality star tweeted on Monday:

“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened,”

She continued:

“As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.”

Balenciaga apologized for its negligent pictures

Kim also mentioned that she is re-evaluating her partnership with the brand which is now completely cut off. In the past, she posed for several Balenciaga campaigns and walked its runway show.

Despite facing public backlash for not calling out the fashion brand sooner, the multi-millionaire is currently not under a contract with the Spanish brand.

Many celebrities including Kim’s younger sister Kylie have raised their voice against the luxury brand.

The public backlash started earlier this month after the brand’s retailer released a scandalous picture for an ad campaign featuring kids holding teddy bears dressed in BDSM-style harnesses. Moreover, an image from another Balenciaga as contained a Supreme Court ruling about child pornography.

Since the issue became an international matter, Balenciaga has apologized twice and deleted the problematic images.

In an Instagram statement, the brand wrote:

“We would like to address the controversies surrounding our recent ad campaigns. We strongly condemn child abuse; it was never our intent to include it in our narrative,”
“The two separate ad campaigns in question reflect a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes responsibility.”

Balenciaga went on to file a $25 million lawsuit against the third party who created the images that caused global outrage.
