King Charles III missed his grandson Prince Archie at his coronation on Saturday.

After the service at Westminster Abbey was over, the newly crowned King wished Archie a happy fourth birthday during an intimate family gathering at the palace.

A source confirmed that Charles paid tribute to his grandson on his 4th  birthday. He also remembered those who were not present there at  Buckingham Palace.

Prince William, the first in line to the throne, stared at the buffet-style meal and congratulated his dear pa on the historic day.

The new King then stood and addressed and thanked his family and Camilla’s extended family as well as Princess Catherine‘s for making the day so beautiful and successful.

The insider revealed,

“It was apparently a very sweet moment,”

Charles did invite his youngest son Prince Harry to the luncheon but he declined the invite and jetted back to California to be with his family for Archie’s birthday – an event he refused to miss.

A source close to the royal said,

“Harry’s going to make every effort to get back in time for Archie’s birthday,”

“It’s going to be an intimate party,”

The source additionally revealed that the King was “genuinely quite disappointed that he didn’t stay.

Harry accused Charles many times in his memoir

Harry who attended the coronation of his father looked cheerful but did not interact with his family members outside of the ceremony.

He arrived in London on Friday and spent the night at Frogmore Cottage which was a gift from his late grandmother on his wedding to Meghan Markle. He left the country just an hour after the ceremony was over.

His relationship with his family and the rest of the family has not been good ever since he released his bombshell tell-all memoir  Spare.

In the memoir, Harry accuses his father of calling him a spare and questioning whether or not he was even his true son.

Buckingham Palace confirmed in May that Harry would be attending the coronation solo and Meghan would be staying back in California with their two kids.

A source said at the time,

“Even though Meghan is not going, it’s still going to be extremely awkward.

Royal fans were relieved that Markle did not attend the  coronation, with one writing,

”she is aware she’s crossed the line and did not want to chance the boooooos. Don’t forget mocking the Queen on national

Another wrote,

”Who actually cares about this woman! I was enjoying the privacy!!”
