Kristin Pitzen has landed herself in serious trouble! The Californian teacher has been under investigation after she revealed in a TikTok video that she suggested her students say the Pledge of Allegiance to the gay pride flag and remove the American flag from the classroom.

She added that the flag of the USA made her ‘uncomfortable.’ Her TikTok video went viral on Twitter and is known that it was posted by @mrsgillingsworth.

She said in the viral video,

“I always tell my class, stand if you feel like it, don’t stand if you feel like it, say the words if you want, you don’t have to say the words. So my class decided to stand, but not say the words. Totally fine.”

Kristin added that she removed the US flag during the pandemic as it made her feel uncomfortable. She said,

“I packed it away and I don’t know where, and I haven’t found it yet. But my kid today goes, ‘Hey, um, it’s kinda weird that we just stand and then, you know, we say it to nothing.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh well, you know, I gotta find it, like, I’m working on it, I got you.’”

Later she showed a gay bride banner hanging on the wall. After her video went viral on the Internet the Newport-Mesa Unified School District released a statement that they are undergoing an investigation on the matter.

The District official said that showing respect for the national flag is an important value that they instill in their student and expect the same from their employees. They are taking the matter seriously and are addressing it.

Since her video, the teacher Kristin Pitzen removed her original video from her account. During the pride month, she showed her classroom filled with gay pride banners and wore rainbow suspenders and earrings. She said,

“I’ll never not be awkward, that’s fun for me. Happy Pride, everyone, it’s June 1, the start of Pride Month, here’s what I got going in my classroom … I pledge allegiance to the queers.”
