Kyle Richards opened up about her first marriage and why it didn’t last

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky‘s marriage might have lasted for over 2 decades and seems like a fairytale.

What most people don’t know is that Kyle was previously married when she was just 18 years old.

Kyle’s fans were shocked to know that she was previously married to Guraish Aldjufrie from Indonesia while she was pregnant with their daughter Farrah Brittany.

The couple first met at a concert and went to get married after young Kyle got pregnant.

The RHOBH alum talked about her first marriage while on the Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald podcast, revealing that they first met at a Tina Turner concert and how things happened after that.

Richards explained:

“I lied and I said I was 19 and I had braces and I was hiding my braces.”
“And then I got scared so I had my friend come with me and then it was like a group of people and he was in the group and we became friends. He speaks good English, but he didn’t when we first met.”

”He’s Indonesian, so he’s Indonesian, Arab, and Dutch. He had not lived here long when he had to get up the courage with his English to ask me out on the date.”

What went wrong in Kyle’s first marriage?

Soon, Richards was pregnant with their child and the two got married in a small ceremony in 1988. While she was struggling to be a new mom, being a wife was even harder for her.

She recalled:

“I struggled with the being married part. Now I’ve got the wife part down, but that’s hard to be a wife at that age,”

Guraish, along with his kind nature and family’s wealth gave a princely vibe.

Kyle recalled:

“Well he was shy and cute, and I liked the fact that he was that — and sweet and very much a gentleman. In fact, people said when I got married, ‘Oh well she married a prince.’ That was the rumor. He wasn’t a prince, but he just acted like one because he was very reserved and sweet,”

To this day, Guraish remains close to Kyle and her now-husband. Farrah is also very close to her dad and for his birthday, she shared a picture of the two along with a beautiful caption that read:

“Happy birthday Dad. Always so caring, loving, and kind. Thank you for teaching me and guiding me through life. I’m so grateful for our amazing bond. I love and miss you so so much [and] I cannot wait to see you soon! (ps- am I not their twins?!),”
