It was this July that Bindi got engaged to her boyfriend of 6 years, Chandler Powell. Bindi is an Australian while Chandler is an American. Chandler proposed to Bindi on her 21st birthday. She shared this happy news in her life with her social media fans with an emotional post.

Chandler had gone on one knee in the Australian Zoo where they had first met. The birthday party of Bindi was held in the zoo.

Bindi wrote:

“On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life.
“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness.”

She added:

“I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!”

The moment was, captured by Bindi’s brother Robert who also was, surprised by it.

“Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo.
“I immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light. Proposing in her very favorite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives.”

Further, he wrote:

“Bee, I love you more than anything in this world and I always will. Happy Birthday.”

Bindi’s mother Terri tweeted her happiness:

“Best day ever! Chandler asked and beautiful @BindiIrwin said yes. I am so very happy, and I know Steve would be too. Congratulations!!”

Chandler who is a professional wakeboarder met Bindi in 2013 when he was touring the Australia Zoo where she worked. The couple had a photo together and Chandler posted it on his Instagram and wrote:

“Spent yesterday at the Australian Zoo along with Bindi Irwin and staff! One of the most educational and inspirational experiences I’ve ever been a part of.”

He tagged Bindi and added:

“Thanks for having us there! It was so awesome being shown around by y’all! Definitely want to come back.”

Chandler fell in love with Bindi at first sight. He told People later:

“It just so happened that Bindi was giving tours that day. I’m like, ‘Wow she is amazing.'”

He wrote a letter to Bindi’s mother Terri asking her permission to stay in touch with Bindi!

Terri had shown the letter to Bindi to know whether the person was real. They started a long-distance relationship. In 2015, he invited her to the US to be his prom date. She clicked a picture and posted it on her Instagram writing:

“We don’t really have Prom in Australia but this wonderful human being is American and when his Prom came around he invited me to go to Florida with him.”
“I can’t believe this really happened, I felt like I was living in a movie and was a real life Disney princess”.

The same year she came on the DWTS show and thanked Chandler on her Instagram:

“Thanks for helping me to ice my foot when it hurts, making me tea and hugging me when I’m tired. You’re amazing.”

They used to write love letters to each other and in 2018, Chandler moved to Queensland for her. She tested him before accepting him into the Irwin family and passed it.
