The basketball player grew up as a competitive child. First, he started playing football.

However, he developed a keen interest when he was in grade seven. Since then, he is continuing playing basketball.

However, his initial journey as a basketball player started during his High School days at Gate City High School. Back in those days, he was famous for his acrobatic dunker.

At the time, he played in Virginia High School League where he scored career-high 64 points.

Also, he was the winner of the slam dunk contest in the Ballislife All-American Game.

Moving forward, on the 22nd of December 2018, Mac McClung got enrolled at Georgetown University. Also, he played for the basketball team at the university.

During his freshman year, he scored a season-high score of 38 points. Later, his name also included Big East All-Freshman Team.

In the sophomore season, he got a foot injury causing him to miss several matches. After that, he announced that he will be signing for the 2020 NBA draft.

On the 27th of March 2020, he switched to Texas Tech University. Also, he would represent the basketball team of the university.
