Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Chase Design Group died in an Aeroplane accident on Saturday, July 22, 2017, in Apple Valley CA.

According to the report, the plane left Apple Valley airport at around 2:45 p.m. that day to conduct an aerobatic sequence that consisted of aileron rolls, defined as an aerobatic maneuver in which an aircraft does a full 360-degree revolution about its longitudinal axis.

Witnesses reported that this was Chase’s second flight of the day practicing the sequence. There should be no change in altitude when the maneuver is executed properly; however, the NTSB’s report stated that Chase “never reduced power and leveled the airplane,” and it subsequently impacted the ground.

Chase began taking a variety of art classes, soon exhausting her options in CalPoly’s art department, leaving only an illustration class. After graduation, she attended the University of California, San Francisco’s medical illustration program but decided to drop out because of boredom.

Margo Chase started her work with a small advertising firm in Long Beach, designing packaging for Ralph’s grocery store chain. Within no time she was hired by Rosebud Books to design a set of tourist guidebooks.

Therefore, during this time, Margo met Laura LaPuma, who would give her her first album cover design job at Warner Brothers Records. Later she set up an office in her Silverlake home, hiring Nancy Ogami and studio manager Robert Short to assist in servicing clients such as Geffen Records, Virgin Records, and others.

Margo also designed logos for Prince’s Lovesexy, as well as his Paisley Park production company. Attracting enough positive recognition, Chase was asked to design the logo and eventually the packaging for Madonna’s 1989 album Like a Prayer. This opened the door for other high-profile forecasts such as Cher’s Love Hurts, the poster campaign for 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and others.
