Melania and Ivanka Trump Skip Headscarves During Visit to Saudi Arabia- Despite Past Trump Criticism!
- Visit Saudi Arabia! Melania and Ivanka Trump reached Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 20 May
- The two arrived in stylish outfits and caused the news to travel with what they missed wearing
So let’s find out!
Trip to Saudi Arabia
Melania and Ivanka Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday with their hair uncovered which is not unprecedented.
The First Lady and President Donald Trump’s oldest daughter opted not to wear headscarves in the religious country that enforces a strict dress code on its women, who are expected to be fully covered from head to toe when out in public.
The White House told CNN on Saturday that Trump was not required to wear a head covering.
Meanwhile, the wife and daughter of now-President Trump could break the rule of the traditional Saudi headscarf for a woman, although they did abide by the norm of dressing in long sleeves and long pants expected in the culturally conservative kingdom. Covering is in line with a more modest appearance in Islam.

The First Lady and First Daughter were both dressed modestly covering up in black Stella McCartney jumpsuit with a wide gold belt when they got down at King Khalid International Airport but neither wore a headscarf, as Saudi women are required to do by law.
Similarly, presidential advisor Ivanka, 35, who is accompanying the couple on their trip to the Middle East and Europe along with her husband, Jared Kushner, was also demurely dressed in a long-sleeve Cedric Charlier maxi dress.
What next?
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former first lady Laura Bush, British Prime Minister Theresa May, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel all made the choice not to sport a scarf on similar recent visits to the region.
Mr. Trump said in 2015 that Mrs. Obama had “insulted” Saudi Arabia by not covering her head when she and President Barack Obama visited the Muslim country.
“Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted. We have enuf enemies,”
Mr. Trump said on Twitter in January 2015.

The country has a legally imposed dress code that requires Saudi women to wear an abaya, a dress that covers them from the neck to the ankles, in public.
Some Muslim women opt to wear a niqab that covers their entire face only leaving their eyes visible, others wear a burqa that covers them from head to toe, with mesh covering their eyes.
At home, or in all-female settings, the women can be less covered up. Foreign women are not subject to the same rules.
After visiting Saudi Arabia, Trump and his team will fly to Israel for meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then from there head to the Vatican in Rome, where the President will seek an audience with Pope Francis. The president will then travel to Brussels for a summit of NATO and also a meeting of the G-7 industrial nations in Sicily.
