In 2004 and 2005, he played for the Aguilas Cibaenas of Santiago in the Dominican Republic. Mike made his MLB debut on 4th May 2006. It was against the Detroit Tigers in Comerica Park.

In December 2012, Mike Napoli signed a contract with Boston Sox. He hit his fourth career grand slam in a 9-6 win over the Oakland Athletics.

Mike announced his retirement on 8th December 2018 and on 9th December 2019, he was hired by the Chicago Cubs as their quality assurance coach.
