Mod Sun dedicates a new heartbreak song to Avril Lavigne

Mod Sun released a new heartbreak song just a day after his ex-girlfriend Avril Lavigne and Tyga ended their relationship.

The new anthem, however, seems to be Mod’s split with Avril which happened nearly three months ago.

In an Instagram video shared on Wednesday, Sun sang,

“I remember loving you before we ever met / Saw you on a TV then I met you through a friend,”
“Then I started talking to you on the internet / Went from strangers to lovers to strangers again.”

The clip shows, Sun, whose real name is Derek Smith, walking down the narrow streets of Paris, the same city where he proposed to the Canadian singer in March 2022.

The Complicated songstress called off her engagement to Sun in February 2023 just nearly a year after the two got engaged in the City of Love.

It is still unclear why their split happened but according to TMZ, infidelity was not why the couple went their separate ways.

Just days before their breakup, Avril was spotted handing out with her new beau, Tyga at a dinner date in LA.

Is Mod over his split from Avril?

A source revealed at the time that Sun, who was on his God Save the Teen tour, was left blinded by his fiancee’s decision to end their engagement.

The singer’s rep said,

“They were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour, so if anything has changed, that’s news to him,”

Despite that, the singer had no intention of taking a break.

“The show will happen tonight and tomorrow and for the rest of the tour,”

Before calling off their engagement, the two already had been on and off for some time.

Despite being hurt by Avril’s decision and even releasing a song about her, a source revealed that Sun ‘‘has no interest or care in looking backward and has far moved on from that situation.”

Lavigne, for her part just recently ended her short romance with Tyga.
