 Who is Muskan Khatun?

Muskan Khatun is a Nepali rights activist and a Taekwondo player.

She is the survivor of a brutal acid attack that was thrown on her by two boys: Samsad Miya, 16, and Majid Alum in 2019.

Majid was the one who threw acid on her but it was Samsad who encouraged him.

She received the International Women of Courage (IWOC) Award from US Embassy.

Previously this award was received by Malala Yousafzai for her work for women and girls in Pakistan.

She was born in the year 2004 in Birjung, Parsa, Nepal but her full birth date is not revealed. The name of her father is Rasul Ansari but her mother’s name is unknown.

Muskan Khatun gained popularity after receiving the courage award for surviving the toxic attack. She was honored with the International Women of Courage in 2021.

The award will be given to her at the hand of US president Joe Biden and Jill Biden. She is also active in doing campaigns for passing the laws against such crimes.

The current Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Oli also met and heard her story. After the act, Oli agreed to regulate strict laws against acid attacks as well as restrict the buying and selling of the chemicals by the citizens.

Her story has inspired many other people and she was appreciated by movie stars including mega actors Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Hamal, and more.

This activist is a victim of an acid attack. She was on her way to school when two boys named Samsad Miya and Maksud Alam threw acid on her face, hands, and body. Soon after the attack, she was hospitalized and put in the emergency ward.

They were following Muskan and did the hideous crime at Ganeshman Chowk, Birgunj. The reason was as usual typical, Muskan rejected Alam’s proposal. Having a narrow mentality, Samsad took revenge in which he trapped his Majid friend as well.

Also, Muskan’s father was aware of the romantic proposal and had warned the Samsad to stay away from her daughter.

Nepali Police arrested the attackers from Chapakaiya, and they are charged with an attempt to murder and damage Muskan’s face.
