Adam Peaty announces split with girlfriend of three years

Olympic Swimmer Adam Peaty and his girlfriend of three years Eirianedd Munro have called it quits.

The former couple met at the University of Loughborough where Eiri,23, recently graduated with a Fine Arts Degree.

They share a son George-Anderson Adetola Peaty, whom they conceived just two months after they started dating. He was born in September 2020.

On Tuesday evening, the swimmer took to Instagram to announce his breakup with the mother of his son.

The 27-year-old wrote:

“Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways.
“We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, 2 of those with our gorgeous son George.
“Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship.

“I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years.
“Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down.”

The dancing star continued:

“My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further.”

Eiri is worried about her future

Eiri, 23, also took to her Instagram to announce the split and predicted that she will have to face a very difficult life ahead.

She wrote:

‘The last three years have been so, so amazing.
‘Our little family has experienced so much laughter and love and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that!
‘This next chapter of my life is surely going to be an incredibly difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating or messaging.

‘I have shared so much of my life, but for now I’m choosing privacy and I hope that you will all respect that.
‘I love and appreciate you all so much and I’m so thankful for all the fun and opportunities you’ve given me.
‘I am going to be taking a break from social media, so goodbye for now. Thank you so much for everything.’

Just some time ago, the couple enjoyed a romantic holiday on the Greek Island of Santorini and posted a handful of snaps on Instagram.

The three-time Olympic winner took part in the 19th series of the BBC One dance show in 2021.

He competed for seven weeks and ended up being ninth with his dance partner Katya Jones.

During their time on the show, the professional duo raised eyebrows with their chemistry on stage.

Fans even thought that they nearly kissed at the end of one steamy routine.

The shocking news of Adam and Eiri’s breakup comes just weeks after she refused to pass him their son after he won gold in the 50m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games.
