Oprah Winfrey has recently suffered a significant loss in her life. The famous American Tv host lost her father Vernon Winfrey who was suffering from cancer.
The Tv host, producer, and actress thanked all her friends and well-wishers who came out to pay their tributes after she announced the news of her beloved father’s demise.
Vernon died on Friday surrounded by his family and loved ones.
On Saturday, Oprah, 68 took to her Instagram and wrote:
“I had the sacred honor of witnessing the man responsible for my life, take his last breath. We could feel Peace enter the room at his passing.”
“That Peace still abides. All is well. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts.”

Oprah celebrated the life of her father during his final days
Oprah was lucky that she had time to spend with her ill father during his final weeks.
Just a few days before he died, Oprah threw a surprise party in honor of her father. Vernon thought it was an ordinary 4th of July party, but it turned out to be Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Celebration that Oprah herself organized for her father.
Winfrey shared her happiness on Instagram saying:
“He FELT the love and reveled in it until he could no longer speak.”
The joyous occasion saw many close family and friends in attendance from Gayle King to Wintley Phipps.
Oprah thanked her father for teaching her work ethic. She also noted that he rarely closed his business for holidays.
She said:
“I learned from your good work ethic, showing up, being on time—that is why for 25 years of The Oprah Show, I never missed a show,”
Vernon was a famous barber in his community. Furthermore, he served on the Metro Nashville Council for 16 years.
Nashville mayor John Cooper also mourned the death of the veteran. On Twitter he wrote:
“I offer my deepest condolences to the family of Vernon Winfrey. Vernon served on Metro Council for 16 years and dedicated his life to entrepreneurship, barbering, and mentoring young men in the community,”
“An Army veteran and deacon, he leaves behind a legacy of service.”
