Azinger won eleven tournaments on the PGA Tour in seven seasons, from 1987 to 1993, resulting in his one major title, the Inverness 1993 PGA Championship, which he won against Greg Norman in a sudden-death playoff.
After making bogey on both the 71st and 72nd holes, Azinger ended one shot behind Nick Faldo at the 1987 Open Championship at Muirfield.
He was an American Captain of the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
Paul leads the American team to its first win since 1999 over the European squad.
He declined an invitation to the White House for winning the Ryder Cup team.
From 2005 to 2015, he worked as a senior analyst for ESPN and ABC Sports Golf news.
