At the same time, McGill made his film debut in the biographical documentary film called ‘Man On Wire’ as the role of Philippe Petit in the reenactments. The film is based on Petit’s book, ‘To Reach the Clouds’, which was released in paperback with the title ‘Man on Wire’.

It chronicles Philippe Petit’s high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center in 1974.

The documentary won BAFTA and Academy Award and also competed in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

In 2009, Paul McGill moved to Los Angeles for playing in the movie ‘Fame’ as Kevin. The following year, he performed in the Tony Award-winning musical ‘Memphis’.

He was an Associate Choreographer of the Broadway production of ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’. In 2017, he choreographed three Off-Broadway plays in one season of ‘The Legend of Georgia McBride’.

He then choreographed ‘Steve’, ‘The School for Scandal’, and ‘Filament’. Moreover, he had also trained Laverne Cox in Los Angeles in her role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the musical comedy television film ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ in 2017.

In 2016, Paul McGill started an online streaming digital masterclass series named ‘Broadway Masters’ with Marcus Lovingood which was launched on November 10, 2016, to worldwide audiences.
