Paul McGill is an American actor who is famous for his role in the award-winning documentary ‘Man on Wire’ as Philippe Petit in the reenactments. Furthermore, he is also a choreographer and director for stage, film, and television.

Paul McGill was born on September 3, 1987, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Paul McGill II and Shari McGill. His birth sign is Virgo and his current age is 32. His father Paul worked as a sock salesman and his mother Shari worked as a school teacher. He grew up in Pittsburgh along with his elder sister Emily McGill.

Regarding his education, he attended ‘Roseline Kenneth Professional School of Dance’ in 1990 and later transferred to ‘Pittsburgh Musical Theater’. In 2004, he attended ‘Professional Performing Arts School’.

In 2004, he made his first Broadway appearance in the revival of  ‘La Cage aux Folles’.  Then he later played in the Broadway revival of ‘A Chorus Line’ at the Schoenfeld Theater for the entire run of the show.

At the same time, McGill made his film debut in the biographical documentary film called ‘Man On Wire’ as the role of Philippe Petit in the reenactments. The film is based on Petit’s book, ‘To Reach the Clouds’, which was released in paperback with the title ‘Man on Wire’.

It chronicles Philippe Petit’s high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center in 1974. The documentary won BAFTA and Academy Award and also competed in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. In 2009, he moved to Los Angeles for playing in the movie ‘Fame’ as Kevin. The following year, he performed in the Tony Award-winning musical ‘Memphis’.

He was an Associate Choreographer of the Broadway production of ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’. In 2017, he choreographed three Off-Broadway plays in one season of ‘The Legend of Georgia McBride’.

He then choreographed ‘Steve’, ‘The School for Scandal’, and ‘Filament’. Moreover, he had also trained Laverne Cox in Los Angeles regarding her role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the musical comedy television film ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ in 2017.

In 2016, McGill started an online streaming digital masterclass series named ‘Broadway Masters’ with Marcus Lovingood which was launched on November 10, 2016, to worldwide audiences. The program focus on bringing together Broadway stars and their advice on how to make it on Broadway.
