Hugh Grosvenor and Olivia Henson announce engagement

There’s another important function for the royals to attend soon; Prince George‘s godfather Hugh Grosvenor and his new fiancee Olivia Henson‘s wedding.

The Duke of Westminster recently popped the question to Henson, 30, his girlfriend of two years. The proposal took place at Hugh’s family estate at Eaton Hall in Northern England’s Cheshire  County.

A press release announcing the engagement said,

“Members of both their families are absolutely delighted with the news,”

A photo from their engagement showed the couple smiling at the Eaton estate.

Hugh shares a close relationship with the Royal family. The 32-year-old is one of George’s godparents. He was present at the future king’s christening at St. James’s Palace in 2013.

Apart from Hugh, George’s godparents included Zara Tindall and other family friends — like college pal Oliver Baker, family friend William van Custem, Prince William and Prince Harry’s former private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, and Princess Diana’s friend Julia Samuel.

Prince William and Princess Catherine picked them as their son’s godparents because they “wanted to include family and friends and reflect their life on both sides.”

By becoming a royal godparent, Grosvenor followed a family tradition as his mother Natalia, the Duchess of Westminster is also one of six Prince William’s godparents.

Many are guessing that young Prince George might have a role to play at his godfather’s wedding.

He previously became a page boy at his aunt Pippa Middleton and uncle Prince Harry.

Grosvenor became the 7th Duke of Westminster after his father Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor passed away in 2016.

At the time of his death, the late Duke was the richest British with an estimated net worth of $12.15 billion. He also had acres of property near Buckingham Palace.

After inheriting his late dad’s name and wealth, Hugh became the youngest billionaire in the  U.K. Many also referred to him as “England’s most eligible bachelor.”
