Prince William jokes about his royal money
Prince William faced a tricky question from a young boy!
The royal, 41, was asked about his bank balance by an 11-year-old boy named Amir Hassan during a royal engagement at the Youth Project in Manchester on Thursday.
Hassan asked the Prince of Wales, according to the Telegraph,
“How much do you have in your bank account?”
The future king had a laugh at the question before replying he didn’t know.
After his father, King Charles ascended the throne after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall, an estate of farmland, property, and business which is worth around $1.3 billion.
King Edward III was the one who established the Duchy in 1337 to provide an income for the heir to the British throne. King Charles used the Duchy income to pay for his life and public work when his mother was alive.
A royal insider told People last year that shortly after William received the title of the Prince of Wales, he is “going to very much take an active role in it. He is fully immersing himself in it.”
William who is also very concerned about homelessness was finding ways of how the Duchy could be used to help those in need.
William told farmers in Prince Charles: Inside The Duchy of Cornwall,
“I’ve started to think about how I will inherit the Duchy one day,”
“Well, rest assured I’m not going to rock the boat; I’ll do much the same as what my father’s doing. I’m not so into the architecture — that’s the only thing.”
How will William’s visit have a positive impact on Manchester?
The prince’s visit to Manchester on Thursday also fulfilled a promise he made to Wendy Simms at a Buckingham Palace garden party earlier this year. In the city, Simms runs a local food bank.
After reuniting with Wendy, William said,
“It’s been a while Wendy — I told you I’d come and see you,”
The father of three announced a £100,000 scheme which was jointly funded by the Royal Foundation and the Labor politicians. This will help support the work of the Manchester Peace Together Alliance.
During the visit, William was also asked about his decision to join the art project, where the students were cutting out hairstyles they thought were positive and powerful.
He replied,
“I’m literally the last person you should ask. My hair is disappearing.”
The prince also played a game of pool with the children.
The huge funding will be used for creating employment, skills, and training programs for young people at risk of violence.
