On Saturday, the grand-niece of  John F. Kennedy tied the knot with Jam Sulahry, a student at Harvard Business School.

The couple exchanged vows on the historic Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port. Later, the ceremony and cocktail hour were held at the RFK House, named after her grandfather.

After the beautiful ceremony, the reception party happened at the JFK House named after her great uncle,  John F. Kennedy. Kate Murtaugh Events & Design planned and designed the entire wedding with florals overseen by Beach Plum Floral Design.

“It is where we have celebrated the great times and come together in heartbreaking times. It truly feels like coming home.”

Before the wedding ceremony, their legal wedding took place on June 17, 2022, in a small Pakistani ceremony known as Nikah. The date was, for sure, the 72nd anniversary of Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy’s wedding date.

Talking about their relationship, Sarah said that her romance with Sulahry leads back to Massachusetts.

She said,

“[We] attended Boston College and met the night before freshman-year classes started,”

“In Aisle 10, Jam laid eyes on [me] for the first time and asked, ‘Want to shop with me?’ “

On their first date in Boston’s North End, the duo shared pastries. Instead of  taking a bus, the two “walked and talked the entire 11 miles back to campus.”

More about Sarah and Jam’s Pakistani engagement

While the wedding focused primarily on honoring the Kennedy legacy with the two even taking their engagement photos on JFK’s sailboat, they also focused on  Sulhary’s Pakistani heritage on their special day. That included a traditional Mehendi on the evening before their wedding.

They also had “choreographed Bollywood-style dances, henna tattoos, Pakistani desserts, and traditional Pakistani and Indian music,’‘ that evening.

As for the outfit for the traditional  Pakistani ceremony, the couple chose a color palette for the ceremony, like pinks and oranges “inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the Cape Cod coast, Sulahry’s Pakistani culture, [our] love for the water, and the natural gardens and landscape of the Kennedy Compound.”

Sarah noted,

“Our wedding is unique because we combine [my] Irish Catholic roots with Sulahry’s Muslim Pakistani roots to celebrate our love joyfully,”

Kennedy made sure to include some of the historic eye-catching Kennedy family heirlooms in the fun ceremony. The two toasted their union with Loving Cups who were present at her grandparents’ wedding in 1954.

She concluded,

“Getting married is about memorializing our love for each other and our commitment to each other for life,”

“We were best friends before dating and grew our relationship through good times and bad. Marriage is the next chapter in our love story, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Now that the wedding is done, the two are planning their honeymoon in Greece and Italy where they are planning to go hiking and have more adventures.
