Who was Bryan Randall?
Sandra Bullock lost her boyfriend of eight years, Bryan Randall, to ALS. The late photographer’s family said in a statement to Page Six that he passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023, at age 57 after battling the illness for three years.
The family said in the statement on Monday,
“It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,”
“Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”
They continued,
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,”
The Randal family further asked for “privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke states that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare neurological disease affecting the brain and spinal cord’s nerve cells that control voluntary muscle movement.

What did Bryan do for a living?
Randall worked as a professional photographer and owned his own company, Bryan Randall Photography. His work basically focused on children’s portraits and outdoor scenes.
He was also passionate about modeling and did various campaigns for huge labels like Yves Saint Laurent and Hugo Boss and also graced the pages of various high-end fashion magazines, including Vogue Paris and Harper’s Bazaar Singapore.
He also briefly studied at Los Angeles drama school Anthony Meindl’s Actor Workshop.
When did Bryan and Sandra meet?
Randall and Bullock, 59, first met on her adopted son Louis’ birthday in January 2015. They immediately had a connection and started dating soon after that.
It was only in October of that year that the two made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Sandra’s film Our Brand is Crisis.
While the two preferred keeping much of their relationship private, Sandra spoke about their romance during a December 2021 appearance on the Red Table Talk saying that she had found the love of her life.
She said at the time, ”We share two beautiful children — three children, [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,”
Does Bryan have any children?
Bryan was a dad to adult daughter Skylar Slaten Randall with his previous partner named Janine.
Skylay lived with her mom until the latter’s death in 2007. She then went on to live with her maternal grandmother who died shortly after.
It was after that Randall cleaned up and became an active parent.
However, he also adopted Bullock’s two adopted kids, Louis, 13, and Laila, 10, during their relationship.
In that same interview, the Oscar-winning actress talked about co-parenting with Randal.
She said in the same interview,
“He’s the example that I would want my children to have,”
Was Bryan religious?
Sandra once stated that Bryan was very religious and very Christian.
She said,
“I have a partner who’s very Christian and there are two different ways of looking at things. I don’t always agree with him, and he doesn’t always agree with me. But he is an example even when I don’t agree with him.”
