Sandy Yawn and Leah Shafer took the next step in their relationship. The reality TV star, 59, popped the question to the gospel singer and skin aesthetician, 49, after five years of dating.

The romantic proposal took place last weekend during a romantic getaway. Below Deck Mediterranean’s Captain Yawn gushed about the proposal with E! News,

“I have been thinking about marrying Leah for years, I knew from the minute I met her, but the timing had to be right. I wanted to make sure we could truly do life together first.”

She acknowledged that Shafer wanted a “fairytale” proposal and gave an update about the proposal location.

“I planned a boat ride to a beautiful cove. I had it decorated with flowers with a path to a small table accompanied by three violinists where we could sit and have a small date,”

She said the moment was filled with joy and emotion explaining Shafer’s reaction,

“The look on her face was princeless and my heart exploded! It was filled beyond capacity of anything I could ever imagine. Somehow I feel closer than I did before, and I can’t explain it. There is an energy that I have never experienced in my life. I love her beyond; as Leah says Yawn beyond.”

Sandy also shared a series of photographs from the romantic proposal on her Instagram along with the caption,

“It official ! I asked Leah to marry me, and she said YESSSSS. We are engaged! stay tuned for wedding”

The pictures show Sandy getting down on one knee in front of Leah with a beautiful beach location. The reality TV star wore a black vest which she paired with white pants and matching white loafers.

Leah, on the other hand, donned a black dress with matching flip-flops. Similarly, she had her brunette tresses styled in curls.

How long have Sandy Yawn and Leah Shafer been together?

Sandy and Leah began dating in 2018 after knowing each other on Facebook. In November 2018, they met in person in Los Angeles after months of talking in messages.

Yawn got candid about their first interaction with Cheat Sheet in 2019,

“She sent me a nice message that said, ‘I cam across your show, congratulations, many blessings,”

She then went on to explain their bond over a year revealing they connected over music and their faith.

“It was like a spiritual connection in the beginning. She has a passion for inspiring through music and the youth. And broken people and so do I coming from the gospel industry. That’s what brought us together. And then, of course, the attraction and falling in love with a beautiful soul and knowing you want to be with someone forever. I’ve never felt that way before.”

The two since started their own podcast, titled, “Captain Sandy and Leah Rae Show.” Yawn revealed earlier this year that they were also building their dream “Spanish-style” home near Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida.

They were set to move in together in 2024. Leah is already a mom to a daughter from her previous relationship.
