Sarah Perry is the author of the historic fiction novel The Essex Serpent (2016).

The same novel is adapted into the 2022 miniseries The Essex Serpent which is set to release on May 13, 2022, featuring casts like Tom Hiddleston, Claire Danes, Clémence Poésy, and Frank Dillane.

Perry has also published two other novels all by Serpent’s Tail: After Me Comes the Flood (2014), and Melmoth (2018).

Remarkably, her three novels are published and translated into 22 languages in order to facilitate the users and met their preferences.

Meanwhile, her debut novel, After Me Comes the Flood, received high praise from critics around the world including The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian. 

The novel from 2014 talks about a wandering man named John Cole, searching for his brother in a drought scenario.

Her novel Melmoth was published in October 2018 under the inspiration of Charles Maturin’s gothic novel Melmoth the Wanderer. Eventually, it became shortlisted for the 2019 Dylan Thomas Prize.

The most influential writing Perry has had is the novel, The Essex Serpent (2016) which is about a Victorian widow and the myth of a sea serpent in Essex.

The storyline explores themes of goodness, friendship, superstition, and love.
