Selena Gomez publicly defends her weight gain
Selena Gomez has always been open about her weight gain and mental health.
Once again, Gomez has slammed all the critics saying she is not a model and never will be. Furthermore, she also told them to go away if they don’t like it.
The Good For You singer, 30, recently came to TikTok live to talk about the scrutiny she is facing about her appearance. There Gomez discussed how lupus medication has caused extreme weight fluctuations.
In a video shared on Twitter, Gomez can be heard saying,
“When I’m taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight,”
The Only Murders in The Building star continued,
“I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and no one knows the real story.”
Despite having a toll on her mental health because of her body issues, Gomez tries to stay focused on bettering her overall health.
The former Disney star added,
“I just want people to know that you’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful,”
“Yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s–t, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.”

Selena said she does not have a model body
The Naturally hitmaker noted that she’s not a model and will never be.
As usual, Selena ended the video with a special message to all her loving fans and also her haters.
She said,
”I love you guys and thanks for supporting me and understanding,”
“And if not, go away, because honestly, I don’t believe in shaming people for their body or anything.”
Back in 2014, Sel’s life changed forever when she was diagnosed with lupus. For those who don’t know, it is a chronic autoimmune disease that often causes joint pain, fatigue, and swelling.
Gomez got candid about the rare disease and her mental health in her apple TV+ Documentary, My Mind & Me.
The songstress revealed how the disease was getting worse and the excruciating pain she was feeling in her body.
In the emotional video, Gomez said,
“Now it just hurts. Like, in the morning when I wake up, I immediately start crying because it hurts, everything,”
To minimize the pain, Selena had to use an intravenous drug called Rituxan, a drug she has already tried in the past.
Selena explained in the documentary,
“The Rituxan was really hard to do last time,”
“It’s about four hours, five hours. It’s really hard on your system at first, but it’s OK.”
Before trying on the new meds on her body, Selena tried treating the symptoms of Lupus using chemotherapy.
