He rose to prominence from his 2007 debut single, “Crank That” which stormed American airwaves becoming position 1 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

In March 2007, he released his first independent album, Unsigned & Still Major: Da Album Before da Album.

The same month, he was recording his hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy)”, which was later released in May. Following the success of the song, he signed a deal with Interscope Records.

Soulja has been in a multitude of relationships throughout the years. He was first public with his relationship with singer Lil Mama, whom he dated from September 2007 to November 2008.

He then briefly dated Meagan Good and Teyana Taylor in 2008 and 2009. In September 2009, he engaged to Dominican glamour model Rosa Acosta after dating for two months.

However, their relationship didn’t long last. They called it quit on their engagement in November 2009.

Boy has since dated on and off many fellow musicians such as Keri Hilson, Trina, Diamond, and more.

Soulja welcomed a baby boy last year with his girlfriend Jackilyn Martinez.
