Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black have expanded their family. The Olympic diver, 28, and his spouse, 48, secretly welcomed their second baby.

The couple, who are already a parent to 5-year-old son Robert Ray, announced the birth of their second child on Wednesday, April 5.

They exclusively told The Times that the pair quietly welcomed their second child named Phoenix Rose on 28 March via surrogate.

On June 27, 2018, Tom and Dustin welcomed their first child or first son via surrogacy, a year after they got married in May 2017 at Bovey Castle in Devon after dating for almost a decade.

They have a 20-year old age gap between them.

The beautiful couple named their first child Robert Ray after Tom’s late father Robert, who died of a brain tumor in May 2011.

The Olympian diver revealed that they had decided to go through an American surrogate because surrogates and parents were not afforded the same legal rights as they were in the U.S.

“We looked into it in the UK and in the US. In the UK it’s a lot more complicated because surrogates aren’t as well protected legally, intended parents aren’t protected legally, it’s just not safe, there’s a lot of hurdles to have to jump over.”

He continued,

“In the US, everything is regulated in a way that keeps everyone safe and in the US the surrogacy process is a lot more streamlined”
