The 56-year-old actor took to Instagram to announce the heartbreaking news that he and his wife are divorcing after more than a decade of marriage.

He seems to have reconsidered his course of action, though, since Dean deleted the post a few hours after it was posted.

Dean shared throwback photos of himself and Tori on Saturday, June 17, along with a lengthy note that reads,

“It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways and start a new journey of our own,”
“We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness.”

The couple is parents to five kids Liam, 16, Stella, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, 6. Also, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 50, has yet to comment on the separation news.

The separation news comes less than a week after the pair attended their daughter Stella’s 15th birthday celebration at the Beverly Hills Hilton.

Before the birthday bash, they took their four children, except Liam, to the Stand for Children Gala in Los Angeles.

Dean is also a father to 24-year-old son Jack, whom he shares with ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace.

Why did Dean McDermott delete his divorce post?

According to an insider who spoke to Us Weekly, Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling are “not getting a divorce” and “have been better than ever” lately. The source said,

“They’ve had their ups and downs like any couple, but [they] have continued working on their marriage through couple’s counseling. They love each other and are not going to split.”

According to the insider, friends of the pair believe Dean felt compelled to post because he might have argued with his now-estranged wife Spelling. They added,

“He obviously regretted it, so he deleted the post,”

This is not the first time, the couple made headlines about their relationship.

The couple initially sparked rumors of their breakup in March 2021 when Spelling was spotted without her wedding band in Moorpark, California.

The speculation was fueled after the actress admitted in an interview that she and McDermott were sleeping in separate beds.

Similarly, the two were then said to be “very much struggling,” with the explanation that “Dean has been caught in so many lies and infidelities over the years and Tori is just over it.”

The couple was still working hard to salvage their marriage, as a separate insider told d ET in March 2023,

“Marriage counselling has been a huge part of how they are trying to work things out, and so far, it’s gone fairly well. Their kids are doing well. Everyone is doing their best to keep things afloat and live a life that’s as normal as possible and trying to stay happy.”
