Valeri Bure was born Valeri Vladimirovich “Val” Bure on June 13, 1974, in Moskva, RUS Russia. He is the second child of Vladimir Bure and Tatiana Bure from Furna in Switzerland.
His elder brother is Pavel Bure, He played ice hockey with the Vancouver Canucks in Canada, and is inducted in the NHL Hall of Fame.

Valeri Vladimirovich ‘Val’ Bure then relocated to Canada in North America and thus began his career in ice-hockey. He debuted in junior ice hockey with the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey Leagues.
After completing his sophomore season with the Chiefs, he returned from Canada and became an American citizen in 2001 December. Valeri has remained a loyal America all his life. During his career, Val played with four major leagues and went through four major player transactions in his trade-off to the Leagues.
After his sophomore ice hockey tenure with the Spokane Chiefs in Canada, Val qualified for the Hartford Whalers in Canada. On 17 September 1991, Val was traded by the Hartford Whalers to Montreal Canadians.
On 1 February 1998, the Montreal Canadians traded Val to the Calgary Flames, whereupon on 23 June 2001, the Calgary Flames traded Val to the Florida Panthers in the United States. Two years later on 11 March 2003, the Florida Panthers traded Val to the St. Louis Blues, and finally on 8 March 2004, the Florida Panthers traded Val to the Dallas Stars in Texas.
In all, Valeri Vladimirovich ‘Val’ Bure played with eight of the best Teams in Ice Hockey Leagues during his illustrious career. They were the CSKA Moscow, Spokane Chiefs, Montreal Canadians, Fredericton Canadians, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, and the Dallas Stars.

Val and Ekaterina won the competition and shared a $100,000 prize to be donated to a charity of their choice. Consequently, Bure donated his share to ‘Compassion Canada’.
