Valeri Vladimirovich ‘Val’ Bure is a Russo-American skating champion in ice hockey and figure skating. Valeri Bure is a two-time medalist in ice hockey in the Winter Olympics. Val played right-winger with the NHL Los Angeles Kings in ice hockey.

Valeri Vladimirovich “Val” Bure -Birth Age, Early Life
Valeri Bure was born Valeri Vladimirovich “Val” Bure on June 13, 1974, in Moskva, RUS Russia. He is the second child of Vladimir Bure and Tatiana Bure from Furna in Switzerland.
His elder brother is Pavel Bure, He played ice hockey with the Vancouver Canucks in Canada, and is inducted in the NHL Hall of Fame.
The Bure are nobles from the time of the Tsar Dynasty of Russia of 1815 through the 1917’s. The Bure family were royal artisans for many successive generations. They designed valuable watches and mantelpieces for the Tsar, and the Imperial Family of Russia. Val’s grand-ancestors were consequently accorded noble status for their devotion and loyalty to the powerful Tsars.
His father Vladimir was an Olympic swimmer. He won four medals for the USSR at three Olympic Games between 1968 and 1976. However in 1991, Vladimir took his two sons- Pavel and Val and traveled to the United States and settled in Los Angles. Here Vladimir trained both his sons in athletic endurance. Thereafter, Vladimir separated from his first wife, the mother of Pavel and Val, and remarried. Then in 1998, Vladimir and his second wife took their half-sister Katya and left the house, leaving the two boys forever behind to fend for themselves.
Val Bure – Professional Career
Val then relocated to Canada in North America and thus began his career in ice-hockey. He debuted in junior ice hockey with the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey Leagues. After completing his sophomore season with the Chiefs, he returned from Canada and became an American citizen in 2001 December. Valeri has remained a loyal America all his life. During his career, Val played with four major leagues and went through four major player transactions in his trade-off to the Leagues.
After his sophomore ice hockey tenure with the Spokane Chiefs in Canada, Val qualified for the Hartford Whalers in Canada. On 17 September 1991, Val was traded by the Hartford Whalers to Montreal Canadians. On 1 February 1998, the Montreal Canadians traded Val to the Calgary Flames, whereupon on 23 June 2001, the Calgary Flames traded Val to the Florida Panthers in the United States. Two years later on 11 March 2003, the Florida Panthers traded Val to the St. Louis Blues, and finally on 8 March 2004, the Florida Panthers traded Val to the Dallas Stars in Texas.
In all, Valeri played with eight of the best Teams in Ice Hockey Leagues during his illustrious career. They were the CSKA Moscow, Spokane Chiefs, Montreal Canadians, Fredericton Canadians, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, and the Dallas Stars.

In 2010, Bure contested in the Second Season of the Figure Skating reality show ‘Battle of the Blades’ organized by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The Broadcasting series paired the former professional hockey player Val with another world-renowned figure skater, Ekaterina Gordeeva. Val and Ekaterina won the competition and shared a $100,000 prize to be donated to a charity of their choice. Consequently, Bure donated his share to ‘Compassion Canada’.
When Val retired in 2005 he started a new vocation- that of a winegrower and vintner.
