YouTube personality James Charles bumps into another controversy despite giving disclaimer! What’s all about the fake pregnancy?

James Charles is a makeup artist and popular YouTuber with 25.6 million subscribers.
Recently, he landed in yet another controversy for the fake pregnant belly photo shoot which was part of a challenge created after his friend Laura Mellado who is pregnant said that James could not last more than 24 hours being pregnant.

In response to the statement, James created a YouTube video titled, ’24 Hours Being PREGNANT!!’. Laura joined him in the challenge and helped him create the pregnant look. He gave a disclaimer on the video saying,

“This video is not being made in any way shape or form to make fun of to make light of pregnancies and the sensitivities and the complications that come around it is obviously such a beautiful beautiful thing that women go through with their bodies and it takes a whole lot of strength,”

He added,

“I know firsthand from watching laura do it twice now and this is just a lighthearted video to see if I can last for 24 hours experiencing some of the challenges that are even possible for me to actually experience today.”

Some viewers took this as a challenge and enjoyed it but it caught backlash on social media. For the video, he wore two silicone baby bumps stacked on top of each other to look like a woman who was at least 40 weeks pregnant.

Backlash after the Fake Pregnancy

On Instagram, he posed kneeling in underwear with his fake belly for a photoshoot. He kept his hands on his bare chest to replicate the recent pregnancy pictures of Halsey. During the shoot, a woman shouted, “Yeah, very Halsey.”

Later, James photoshopped the picture to make him look naked. He captioned,

“Surprise…”

Fans got really angry as he made it similar to Halsey who had to undergo laparoscopic surgery to treat endometriosis around her uterus to boost her fertility before recently conceiving. One of the angry Twitter users wrote,

“I’m sorry but James Charles and his team really filmed that s–t, made those comments and didn’t see anything wrong with it? How thirsty for clout can you be?! So gross, disrespectful and insensitive. Also I’m sure he’s at an age where he knows that pregnancy jokes aren’t ok.”

James has been into many controversies in the past. Previously, he shared that there are people who dislike him no matter what he does.
