The famous and in-demand actress Danai Gurira-know on her upcoming projects and campaigns!
- Black Panther actress Danai Gurira is in demand as an actress
- She has a lot of happenings on her career front and there are several projects under her belt lately
Danai Gurira and her role negotiations
The Legendary/Warner Bros. has shown an interest in having Danai Gurira on board for their next movie which is expected for a May 2020 release.
Adam Wingard will direct the eagerly anticipated film Godzilla vs Kong. Early negotiations have started and mostly Danai would bag the role if all goes well.
Danai Gurira in Star Trek 4?
The producers are considering Danai for a role in Star Trek 4. S.J. Clarkson will be the first female director to direct a film in the Star Trek franchise.
Danai Gurira and Avengers Infinity War!
Danai starred in the recent movie Avengers Infinity War which was released in April this year. She had the same role as Okoye which she had performed in the Black Panther movies.
Danai is also extremely open to starring in screen space with Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and Karen Gillan (Nebula) for an Avengers movie with an all-female cast.
She said:
“I think it is a rumour, but the cool thing is that it’s showing there’s this hunger for that type of thing.”
Danai continued:
“I know that the awesome Brie Larson is filming ‘Captain Marvel’ as we speak, so these things are starting to happen, and I think it’s really exciting because it shows that yeah, of course, it’s time we start seeing the perspective of the story come exclusively from women.”
Danai is not alone in thinking along these lines. Tessa Thompson who was cast as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok had also expressed that she would love to see all the Marvel women characters come together for their standalone film.
She said:
“I’m not Marvel so I can’t make it happen, but I can tell you that Marvel is hugely collaborative.
“[Marvel President Kevin Feige] is really excited by the idea.
“If you look at what’s happened already in Phase 4 with me and Valkyrie and our story, and then in ‘Black Panther’, the women rule supreme.
“There’s an interest, they’re doing ‘Captain Marvel’, they’re doing.”
So we should be prepared to soon see this happening!
Danai Gurira and Reebok
While the idea of an all-female Marvel movie is just being conceived, Reebok has already made this happen. The celebrated brand Reebok has brought together several famous women celebrities for their new campaign.
Two days back, the company unveiled a new campaign called #BeMoreHuman which is being led by famous female faces such as Ariana Grande, Gigi Hadid, Gal Gadot, and of course our very own Danai Gurira.
Empowering women is the intended outcome for these organizations. There is a series of videos in which each female star states what the phrase ‘more human’ means to her.
Similarly, Danai said that for her is all about boosting other women. She further said:
“There’s nothing more powerful than women celebrating each other. The connection of sisterhood to me is profoundly crucial to how we can actually self-empower through seeing each other’s greatness, through validating the other, being the rock to another. You actually are empowering yourself as you empower one another.”
