American TV presenter Lara Spencer apologizes for her insensitive remark on-air about Prince George’s ballet lessons!
  • American TV presenter Lara Spencer made a sarcastic remark about Prince George taking ballet classes.
  • She soon got a backlash for it and later had to put up an apology for it.

Lara Spencer laughs at Prince George taking ballet classes

The American TV host Lara Spencer did not think twice before she taunted Prince George during his ballet lessons. She was talking on a segment of ABC’s Good Morning America and there was also a studio audience during that time.

Lara started by stating that the eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George would be studying school subjects of mathematics, history, science, computer programming, religious studies, poetry, and ballet.

As she said ballet, some members of the studio audience laughed. Lara also laughed at this point and so did her co-host, George Stephanopoulos. So it seems to them a boy learning ballet was a point of ridicule.

Lara did stop at this…she then said:

“Oh, he looks so happy about the ballet class,”

This she said when the pictures of Prince George popped up on the screen. She then added that Prince William had said that Prince George loves ballet very much. She further said:

“I have news for you, Prince William: We’ll see how long that lasts,”

“I mean, he might.”

The Online Comments and backlash to Lara Spencer’s remark

The reaction to Lara’s ridiculing remarks on Prince George on-air was quick and sharp. Social media user Maia Nolan-Partnow wrote:

“Congratulations @LaraSpencer for making fun of a little boy — on national TV — for taking ballet and reinforcing the toxic culture that keeps boys from feeling free to express themselves. Thanks for making it harder to raise happy, healthy sons. #MyBoyCan https://t.co/gD4qODxtu0

Actress Rosie O’Donnell posted a video on her Twitter account and said that Lara’s comments were ridiculous. She said further in the video:

“It’s like bullying on national TV.

“Boys who take ballet are cool,”

Director and choreographer Debbie Allen said that what Lara said was just not cool. Debbie wrote:

“Look at the great contributors to the world, in society. Men that have studied dance (such as) Steve Jobs. Hello.”

Choreographer Brian Friedman revealed:

“Growing up as a dancer I was bullied horribly which is exactly what this is,”

Brian has worked with Britney Spears and Beyonce and said that Lara should be ashamed of what she said and the way she said it. He continued:

“She is teaching the word that it is ok to laugh at boys for dancing and that is so sad. Just think about the young boys who may have seen this and could quit their passion at her expense.”

An apology comes from Lara Spencer
