After that, she worked aboard the cruise ship Queen Elizabeth for two years. At the age of 21, she formed her own jazz quartet. She then signed with the Scottish jazz label Linn Records in 1991.

The following year, she released her debut album The Waiting Game. She then released her second album Devil May Care in 1993. Claire has worked as a solo artist with the Halle Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the BBC Big Band, and the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Claire toured in different countries such as UK, Scandinavia, Russia, and China with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and her trio.

Martin made her debut at Lincoln Center in New York City in 2011. She performed all over Europe and Asia with her trio until the death of her trio member in 2012.

Claire works as a presenter on BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Line-Up since 2000. She has interviewed many musical heroes including Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Brad Mehldau, and André Previn.
