Courtney Clenney’s parents are arrested!

Courtney Clenney‘s parents Kim and Deborah Clenney, aged 60 and 57, have been arrested in connection with the same murder investigation in which their daughter has been involved.

The OnlyFans model was arrested and charged with the stabbing death of her boyfriend, Christian “Toby” Obumseli in 2022.

On Tuesday, January 30, her parents were also taken into custody in Travis County Jail in Austin, Texas after suppressing evidence related to the case.

Authorities for Miami-Dade County claimed in the arrest warrants obtained by NBC Miami that Kim and Deborah Clenney had access to Toby’s laptop following his deadly stabbing in the condo where he shared a home with Courtney.

The couple were charged with a third-degree felony.

Clenney’s parents and one of their attorneys, Frank Prieto, allegedly had a group chat discussion about guessing the PIN passcode to access the device.

Kim allegedly wrote in one text message to the group,

“Are there any PIN/passwords we can try before you see her tomorrow?”

He later informed the group that he was able to access the laptop. But one of Courtney’s lawyers warned the father against going through the computer.

The lawyer allegedly wrote,

“I don’t want to turn you into a witness just yet if you find something useful,”

While another attorney cautioned that authorities might want to look at the computer’s hard disk and could “accuse you of creating or modifying files.”

“That’s why I want to put a quick pause on that, Obviously I know you would not do that but we want to maintain that credibility.”

What did Clenney’s legal team say about their arrest?

The Clenneys’ legal team told NBC Miami that they are “extremely surprised and very concerned” by Kim and Deborah’s arrests.

They described the arrests as a “power play by prosecutors to control the narrative.”

“The Clenney family has been targeted with some trumped up charges to discredit them in the press and make their lives miserable. It appears excessive in that the family is now confined in jail awaiting an extradition hearing on what may be an attempt to manipulate media headlines and discredit them before Thursday’s scheduled hearing on a gag order in the case.”

The statement concluded,

“We believe the Clenney family has been targeted with some trumped up charges to discredit them in the press and make their lives miserable.”
