Cristiano Ronaldo revealed how he got honest about his son’s death with his children

Losing his son was definitely one of the worst moments for Cristiano Ronaldo. But telling his other kids about the devastating loss was equally a daunting task.

The Portuguese footballer revealed during an interview with Piers Morgan that he was upfront and honest with his children after his and Georgina Rodriguez‘s son passed away during childbirth in April.

Fortunately, the couple brought their late son’s twin sister, Bella, home. But the athlete recalled the late infant’s siblings had lots of questions like:

“The kids start[ed] to say, ‘Where’s the other baby, where’s the other baby? … Mom, where is the other baby?’”

Ronaldo added in the clip which will go air on Wednesday and Thursday:

“After one week I [said], ‘Let’s be upfront, and let’s be honest with the kids. Let’s say that, Ángel, which is his name, he go to the Heaven,’”

Ronaldo’s explanation made it clear to his children Jr., Alana, Eva, and Mateo that their baby brother had died.

The Manchester United player continued:

“They say, ‘Daddy I did this for Ángel,’ and they point to the sky,”
“Which I like the most because he’s part of their lives. I am not gonna lie to my kids, I say the truth, which was a difficult process.”

Ronaldo addressed that moment as the worst moment in his life since his father’s demise in 2005. He also said that he’s never felt so happy and sad at the same time.

The 37-year-old athlete said that the grieving process was hard to explain and added:

”We had quite difficult moments because we don’t understand why it happened to us.”

Ronaldo and Rodriguez paid tribute to their son, Angel

Cristiano and Georgina announced in October 2021 that they were expecting twins.

The happy model, 28, told her Instagram followers the time:

“Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you ❤️? #blessed,”

But just six months later, the couple was devastated by the loss of their infant son.

The partners wrote in April:

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,”
“It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.”

Ronaldo and Rodriguez started dating in 2016 after meeting at a Gucci store. The couple also shares 4-year-old Alana together. Moreover, the athlete is also the father to Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., 14, and twins Mateo, and Eva, 4 via surrogacy.

While the family grieved their loss in privacy, fans all over the world showed their love and support to the couple in their tough time.

The couple appeared to be doing all they could to move forward after their son tragically died.

After some time, Georgina posted a carousel of photos of her baby girl in her crib, dressed in a cute Moschino outfit.

She simply captioned the post:

To mark the date of her birth, April 18, 2022, the mother wrote “180422,”
