In 1992, Doug Christie started his career with the professional basketball team, Seattle SuperSonics. At the time, Seattle SuperSonics was drafted as the 17th selection at the 1992 NBA Draft.

Despite that, he never played for the team due to contract difficulties. Later, in 1994, Seattle traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers. 

The following year, he was traded to New York Knicks. He was associated with the team for two years. However, the number of games that he played for the team was very less.

In the mid-season of 1996, he was traded to the team, Toronto Raptors. In the season, the points per game that she obtained was 14.5. The Next year, he reached his career peak with the points per game, 16.5. He played for the Raptors for four years till 2000. In 2005, the team traded him to Orlando Magic for Cuttino Mobley and Michael Bradley.
