- Peter Andre’s young wife and junior doctor Emily Andre have decided to step in and support English retired footballer David Beckham in the recent controversy that has embroiled him!
- David Beckham and his wife Victoria Beckham were criticized for having taken their daughter to Buckingham Palace for her 6th birthday.
The unlikely supporter!
Emily Andre has expressed her feelings on this issue in her column in OK! Magazine. Emily felt that instead of being so critical, the fans should be happy for the Beckham family.
She wrote:
“People have said they shouldn’t have shown it off on social media as it will make other kids jealous, but I think that’s just life. Kids are always going to see other children doing something that they want to do.”
Andre continued:
“Having said that, I think most kids are happy with a few friends to play with and a bit of hide and seek and probably aren’t bothered about Buckingham Palace!”
She added that instead of hating the Beckham family, people should be happy for them. She wrote:
“I think people should just be happy for a little girl who obviously had a good time,”
The Beckham controversy
It might be recalled that the Beckhams celebrated their youngest daughter Harper’s 6th birthday by having a small party at home for family and close friends. There were little goodies and drinks for everyone and fun and frolic.
David and Victoria Beckham had personally decorated the place and also put icings on the cakes. Harper too had received a lot of presents.
Things went well till David posted photos of their visit to Buckingham Palace. They were supposedly invited there for a tea party.
When David posted photos of his daughter with the other kids and Princess Eugenie of York inside the palace, people thought that the party was thrown by the Palace for Harper’s birthday.
Incidentally, Harper was dressed as Disney Princess. She, of course, was quite happy at having met the real-life Princess Eugenie, 26. There was also a photo of Harper in front of the Palace holding a balloon.
However, Beckham was heavily criticized on social media for this post. People felt that taxpayers’ money was being pumped into hosting parties for the Beckham clan.
The special treatment given to Beckham was also questioned. People even went on to the extent to say that why only the Beckham kid was called and not any other homeless kids from the Grenfell Tower which got recently burnt.
David Beckham had to post a clarification regarding all this uproar. Fashion designer Stella McCartney also fumed that her daughter’s photo was posted on the internet without her permission.
David clarified:
“Just to be clear this wasn’t the palace opening the gates for Harper’s birthday party, this was a tea party where us and other guests were invited so it was a beautiful thing to do with my mum, Harper plus a few school friends. We were honored to be able to there, beautiful tea party.”
