G. Love is an American singer and musician.

He is renowned as the lead singer of the alternative hip-hop band, G. Love & Special Sauce.

Who are the parents of G. Love?

G. Love was born Garrett Dutton on the 3rd of October 1972 in Philadelphia, US.

His father, Mr. Dutton is a banking Lawyer.

He is of British-American ethnicity.

G. Love attended Germantown Friends School in his hometown.

Later, he joined Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York.

He dropped out of college after one year and relocated to Boston.

Musical Journey

G. Love started a keen interest in music during his childhood.

He was in the ninth grade when he wrote his first song.

At the same time, he started playing Harmonica.

As a child, he was influenced by singers like Bob Dylan and John Hammond Jr. Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys are some of his personal favorites at the time.

He used to play solo in the street during his school days.

After dropping college, he started working as a fundraiser for the peace organization, Peace Action.

 In Boston Dutton met the local producer, Tom DeMille who was interested to combine blues influences with modern music to create a new sound.

Later, in January 1993, he met drummer Jeffrey Clemens in some indoor gigs and started working as a duo.

After a few months, the duo was joined by Jim Prescott.

The trio started performing at The Plough and Stars as a house band.

The trio was now known as G. Love & Special Sauce.

In 1994, the band released their first self-titled album under the recording label Epic.

The album received Gold Certification and sold more than 500,000 copies.

Apart from the band, G. Love has released his solo studio album.

He released his first solo, 2004-The Hustle under the recording label Brushfire Records.

Later, he released 2006- Lemonade and 2011- Fixin’ To Die under the same recording label.

G. Love has also appeared in TV series for cameo roles. 2018- The Zimmern List and Front and Center, 2014- Amp’d Up, 2003- Late Show with David Letterman are some of his TV series.
