Who are Hugh Jackman’s two kids?

Hugh Jackman‘s two kids are the apples of his eye.

The Wolverine star and his wife Deborra-lee Furness are proud parents of son Oliver and daughter Ava.

After meeting on the set of the Australian series Correlli in 1995, the couple tied the knot on April  11, 1996.

They adopted their son, Oscar, 22, in 2000,  and their daughter, Ava, 17,  in 2005.

Despite having successful careers of their own, the couple make sure to teach their kids to count their blessings.

Jackman told People in 2018,

“And I want them to know that they have a responsibility to use those advantages to help others.”

“My kids are constantly reminded about how lucky we are in our family. We’re ridiculously blessed. We live in a beautiful home in places that other people dream of.”

Hugh and Deborah raised their kids out of the spotlight and they rarely share pictures of their babies.

Oscar Maximilian Jackman, 22

Jackman and Furness became first-time parents in 2000 when they adopted their first child, Oscar, who was born in May 2000.

Adoption became important to the couple after multiple failed miscarriages and  IVFs.

The X-men star said in 2017,

“It was not easy. It was difficult, obviously particularly on Deb,”

“I remember saying to her, ‘We were always going to adopt — let’s just adopt now.’ “

“Our motivation behind adopting was, ‘Where is the need?’ “

“And we just knew from talking with people in that space, when we were looking around, that the biggest need is in mixed-race kids.”

The couple made sure to make a constant effort to honor their son’s heritage. Hugh also quickly realized the pressure Oscar felt for having a famous dad.

The actor said in 2006,

“There is a normalcy that I was used to [growing up] that they’re not,”

“To be Wolverine’s son can be a huge burden. My dad was an accountant and I thought it was cool, but no one cared.”

Ava Eliot Jackman, 17

Hugh and Deborah’s family grew again when they welcomed a baby girl on July 10, 2005.

Shortly after bringing the baby girl home, the Australian actor spoke about being a dad of two.

He said,

”You’re a little more relaxed,”

“And it’s a different dynamic having a girl, but both are wonderful and I’m so blessed to have a beautiful boy and girl.”

The actor added,

“I hold her and think, ‘I don’t want you to face anything bad ever in your life.’ “

Despite being stars themselves, Hugh and Deborah were always careful to monitor their children’s screen time when they were younger.

They also made sure to put an emphasis on both their kids understanding their cultural backgrounds.

Deborah said,

“My daughter has a Mexican lineage, so we’ve been to Mexico,”

“What I’m very interested in is epigenetics, and it’s even more so when you have adopted children because I’m coming from my lineage of my mother, how she parented me, how her mother parented her, and I’m translating that to my children,”

The producer added,

“But my children also have a separate lineage. So it’s almost like we have more players at the table.”
