Jess Glynne was born on 20th October 1989 in Hampstead, London, England. Her birth name is Jessica Hannah Glynne. She is of Jewish-Germanic ethnicity with Yiddish ancestry.

She is the daughter of Laurence Glynne and Alexandra Glynne-Ingram. Her father, Laurence is a real-estate agent whereas her mother, Alexandra used to work for the recording label, A&R. Her family name was originally Goldstein which was changed to Glynne by her grandfather.

Moving to her academics, she completed her primary education at the Rhodes Avenue Primary School. Later, in 2008, she completed her A-Levels from the Fortismere School in Muswell Hill, London.
