Keith Raniere was born as Keith Allen Raniere on 26th August 1960 In Brooklyn, New York City. He is of British-Irish ethnicity.

He is a son of James Raniere and Vera Oschypko. His father, James is an advertiser, and his mother, Vera is a ballroom dancing instructor by profession. His parents separated when he was just 8 years old.

Moving toward his academics, attended the Waldorf School in Steiner. Later, he joined the Suffer High School and completed his Junior High School. After that, he enrolled in the Rockland Country Day School in Congers. In June 1978, he completed his High School education.

In 1982, he graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a GPA of 2.26.

Some of his childhood stories claim that he was quite different from an ordinary child. His former partner, Barbara Bouchey shared a story that his father, James shared with her.

Talking about his professional career, in the ’80s, Keith Raniere was associated with the multi-level marketing company, Amway.

He joined the company, as he was fascinated with the company’s Scientology ad neuro-linguistic programming. Apart from that, he was also a computer programmer of New York State’s Division of Parole.

In 1990, he founded the marketing company, Consumers’ Buyline Inc. Three years after that, the company shut down due to an investigation by 20 states. The New York Police filed a lawsuit accusing the organization of being a pyramid scheme.

In 1994, he founded the National Health Network for selling vitamins. The business also failed in 1999. In 1998, he founded the self-described American multinational marketing company, NXIVM. The company offers personal and professional development the seminars through its Executive Success Programs.

In 2018, he and his associate, actress, Allison Mack were arrested for federal charges. Also, the co-founders of the company, Nancy Salzman, Lauren Salzman, Clare Bronfman, and Kathy Russell were arrested for various charges.

However, he was able to escape from Federal custody with the help of NXIVM members. As of now, he is running from the police. There is some evidence that he is hiding in Sydney Australia. Some sources claim that he disguises himself by wearing a woman’s clothes.

On 18th January 2018, the first search warrant was issued for Raniere’s email account. On 14th February, an FBI agent filed a criminal complaint against Raniere.

In March 2018, Mexican authorities arrested him from a luxury villa outside Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for charges including sex trafficking, conspiracy, and sex trafficking.

On 7th May 2019, his federal trial began. On 19th June 2019, he pleaded guilty to various charges like sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography, sex trafficking of Nicole, Identity theft, Trafficking for labor and services, and conspiracy to alter records.
