Who is Amari Thompson?

Amari Thompson is the youngest brother of NBA star Tristan Thompson. He was born to Andrea and Trevor Thompson in Canada. Amari suffers from epilepsy, a brain disorder that causes seizures that are unprovoked and recurring which sometimes causes a loss of awareness.

He is one of Tristan’s three brothers. The other two brothers are Dishawn and Daniel who both aspire to become basketball players one day like Tristan.

The Amari Thompson Fund

In 2013, Tristan established The Amari Thompson fund in honor of Amari. The purpose of the fund was to benefit Epilepsy Toronto in order to heighten education, and awareness, and obtain funding for the disorder.

Back in March 2022, Tristan said:

“Everyone has their motivation. For me, it’s my brother and my family. My Mom has had to sacrifice each day as well. She’s had to watch a child for basically 24-hour care. That takes her away from her own life and freedom.”

He added:

“Most parents who have kids in the NBA, their parents are able to go to Vegas or Atlantic City and go to islands. For her, it’s not always the same. I use that as my driving force to try to make both their lives easier.”

Andrea Thompson, his mother recently passed away

Andrea Thompson passed away unexpectedly following a heart attack on January 5, 2022. TMZ said that Andrea had a heart attack at her Toronto home, citing insiders with firsthand knowledge. Since then, Tristan relocated to Los Angeles to be with his family.

According to a source who spoke to E! News, Khloe Kardashian, who has a 5-month-old baby and a 4-year-old daughter with Tristan, joined the sportsman to “comfort and assist him navigate what will be a very difficult moment.”

The insider said,

“This was unexpected. She was incredibly close to his mother, and like Khloe and the Kardashian family always do, they will come together and support their loved ones in their most difficult time of need. Tristan is the father of Khloe’s kids and she and her entire family will always be there for him.”

According to a source from ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Khloe was very close to Andrea.

“Khloé was very close to Tristan’s mother, and as with any partner, friend, etcetera, the family will be first to support them, especially in this very difficult time.”

Another source told the ET, “A private funeral for his mother is scheduled. ” This private ceremony will be attended by Khloe, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner.

Following the tragic news, Kris Jenner posted a tribute on Instagram with several pictures together sending love to Tristan and his siblings Amari, Deshawn, and Daniel.

“You were the most amazing, dedicated, devoted, and selfless mom and such a loving, kind, and fabulous grandmother.”

She added:

“What a blessing you were to your family!!! I will miss you Andrea. I will miss your bright spirit and amazing light Thank you for always praying for us and lifting us up and encouraging us along the way.”
