Kofi was born on August 14, 1981, as Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah. He was born in Kumasi, Ashanti, Ghana. Kofi spent most of his childhood growing in Winchester, Massachusetts.

He is the son of Kwasi Sarkodie-Mensah and Elizabeth Sarkodie-Mensah. His father was a librarian at the University. His family migrated to the United States when he was three years old.

Kingston’s siblings are Kwame Sarkodie-Mensah (brother), and Nana Akua Sarkodie-Mensa (sister). Sadly, his sister Nana passed away in 2015.

First WWE Match

In September 2006, Kofi Kingston signed with WWE and was assigned to Deep South Wrestling (DSW). He made his official WWE debut as Kofi Nahaje Kingston in a defeated match against Montel Vontavious Porter.

Kofi started his official debut in professional wrestling in 2006 when he faced Tony Omega on February 24 at Chaotic Wrestling.

His performance was soo good that he was invited to Atlanta to Deep South Wrestling (DSW). After a year in Sep 2006, he signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) assigning to DSW.

In 2007, he worked in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) for the rest of his year. Likely, he was undefeated in singles competition in ECW but lost a game against Shelton Benjamin in 2008.

In August 2011, Kingston fought with his tag team partner Evan Bourne against David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty and won the WWE Tag Team Championship. Since then, he won various matches established as one of the superstar wrestlers in the arena.

In 2012, Kingston defeated Miz twice and won the Intercontinental Championship. On SmackDown, he defeated Damien Sandow to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Moreover, Kingston joined the Royal Rumble match for WWE World Heavyweight Championship but was defeated by Chris Jericho. In the 2016 WWE draft, he, along with Xavier Woods and Big E (the New Day), became the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history.
