Lily-Rose Depp might be a good actress but she has some learning to do, as suggested by her fans.

Critics slammed the young actress for being too revealing in her new HBO series The Idol which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday.

Depp, 23, portrays the character of pop star Jocelyn trying to make a comeback after a breakdown and was accused of showing too much nudity in the much-anticipated show.

The movie is co-created by The Weeknd and Euphoria director Sam Levinson.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote,

“Rarely does a scene go by without the camera showing flashes of her breasts or ass,”
“You start to wonder if this is building to anything, and by episode two it seems likely that it’s probably not.”

Variety also claims that the daughter of Johnny Depp‘s scenes scandalized Cannes. The publication wrote in its review,

Lily-Rose praised her director amid controversy

Despite the controversy, Lily-Rose received a five-minute standing ovation after the show debuted at the French film festival.

Even before its release, the series already faced public backlash in April when some sources claimed that it was full of torture porn and rape fantasy. Reports of the set being chaotic and toxic during filming also made headlines.

But Depp denied the rumors calling Levinson “the best director I have ever worked with” for “so many reasons.”
